a Protestant theologian of Germany, was born at Berlin in 1816. He studied at Strasburg, was pastor at Colmar in 1842 in 1858 at Strasburg, and died in 1876. He published, Siebzehn Fest-Homilien uber Lehrtexte (Basle, 1844): — Encyklopadie der Wissenschaften der protestantischen Theologie (Darmstadt, 1845): — Commentaire sur l'Apocalypse (Paris, 1870). Besides, he contributed to the Studien und Kritiken, Herzog's Real- Encyklopadie, Revue de Thaeologie, Revue d 'Alsace, etc. See Lichtenbrerger, Encyclop. des Sciences Religieuses, s.v.; Zuchold, Bibl.
