Joubert, Francis
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
a noted French ecclesiastical writer, born at Montpellier Oct. 12, 1689, entered the service of the Romish Church in 1728. In 1730 he was imprisoned in the Bastille as a Jansenist, and afterwards exiled to Montpellier. He subsequently returned to Paris, and there died, Dec. 23, 1763. He wrote extensively, especially in the department of exegetical theology.
