This dialect is spoken by the Ibos on the banks of the Niger, in West Africa. The first part of the New Test., the gospel of Matthew, was published in this dialect in 1859, and since that time other parts were added. Up to date there are published only eight books of the New Test. In linguistic respects the language has been treated by J.F. Schon, in Oku Ibo, Grammatical Elements of the Ibo Language (1861).
