a Congregational minister and author, was born in 1793. He was a graduate of Yale College, and was remarkable for the elegance and purity of his style as a writer. He early, in. connection with Reverend Thomas H. Gallaudet, LL.D., undertook the preparation of religious books for the young. Among them are, The Youth's Book of Natural Theology, in two parts, and a series of twelve volumes of Bible History; also a popular spelling-book and definer. For a period of more than twenty years he was secretary of the Connecticut Missionary Society; also for several years chaplain of the insane retreat at Hartford, where he died, December 17, 1864.
