A Congregational minister, born at Philadelphia Oct. 8,1748, was educated at the University of Pennsylvania in 1770, and entered the ministry in 1772. His first pastoral charge was at Fairfield, N. J. In 1783 he accepted a call from a church in Charleston, S. C. In 1793 Princeton College conferred on him the degree of D.D. He died Jan. 26,1817. He published several sermons (1789, 1794,1805).
