a Lutheran minister, was born December 29, 1795, at Laage, Mecklenburg-Schwerin. In 1819 he entered the missionary college of Rev. J. Jatnicke, at Berlin, and in 1821 connected himself with the London Society for Propagating the Gospel among the Jews. In 1822 he was sent as missionary to Poland, and was ordained in 1824. In, 1841 Hoff was stationed at Cracow, and died April 28, 1851, a faithful servant, who for, nearly thirty-two years had been active and most laborious missionary among the Jews. (B.P.) Hoffmanists.
