In November 1739, Dr. Hoadly was of the privy council, when the proclamation was issued requiring all justices, magistrates, etc., to search and seize arms in possession of any papist, and to prosecute any papist who should presume to carry arms contrary to the intent of the proclamation. Dr. Hoadly adopted the system of his predecessor, and what was then styled the English interest in the country. He died at Rathfarnham, July 19, 1746.
