Hallock, William Allen, D.D.
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
a Congregational minister, son of Reverend Moses Hallock, was born at Plainfield, Massachusetts, June 2, 1794. He graduated in 1819 from Williams College, and in 1822 from Andover Theological Seminary; the next three years was agent for the New England Tract Society, and in 1825 was, corresponding secretary of the American Tract Society, which he was largely instrumental in founding. He was ordained in Middlefield, Mass., October 5, 1836, and became honorary secretary of the Tract Society in 1870, and so continued until the close of his life in New York city, October 2, 1880. He was for several years editor of the American Messenger, and besides several tracts, wrote and published the following: — The Life of Harlan Page: — The Venerable Mayhews: — Life of Reverend Moses Hallock: — Life of Reverend Dr. Justin Edwards.
