Gur (Hob. id. גּוּר, a whelp, fully מִעֲלֵחאּגוּר, MAALEH-Gur, i.e. ascent of the whelp; Sept, ἡ ἀνἀβασις Γούρ, Vulg. ascensus Gauer; Eng. Vers. "the going up to Gur"), a place or elevated ground in the immediate vicinity of (בְּאּ ) Ibleam, on the road from Jezreel to Beth-hag-Gun, where John's servants overtook and mortally wounded the flying king Ahaziah (2 Kings 9:27). B.C. 883. It is, perhaps, the little knoll marked on Van de Velde's Map about midway between Zenin and Jelameh. (See IBLEAM); (See GUR-BAAL).
