a Presbyterian minister, was born in North East, N.Y., December 3, 1789. He graduated from Union College in 1814, studied theology one year thereafter at Princeton Seminary, was licensed by Hudson Presbytery in September 1816, and ordained pastor at Adams, Jefferson County, N.Y., in 1819, Where he remained till 1823. In 1827 he founded the Oneida Manual Labor Institute at Whitesborough, and in 1832 Knox College, at Galesburg, Illinois. He died there, September 13, 1862. See Wilson, Presb. Hist.
