Foster, Even Burroughs, D.D.
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
or a Congregational minister, grandson of Reverend Eden Burroughs, D.D., of Hanover, N.H., was born at Hanover, May 26, 1813. He studied at Kimball Union Academy; graduated from Dartmouth College in 1837, and spent one year at Andover Theological Seminary. From August 18, 1841, to January 7, 1847, he was pastor in Henniker. After supplying the church in Pelham for several months, he was installed pastor of it, June 21, 1848, and remained until January 1853; thereafter was pastor of the John Street Church, Lowell, Massachusetts; in 1861 at West Springfield; and in May 1866, was reinstalled at Lowell, where he died, April 11, 1882. After 1875 he was assisted by a colleague. Among his publications are the following: Sermons on Baptism (1843): — Duty of Young Men (1850). See Cong. Year-book, 1883, page 22.
