Folcher, John
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
a Swedish theologian, was a native of Calmar. He studied at Upsal and at Giessen, became master of arts in 1693, licentiate in theology in 1696, professor of philosophy at Calmar in 1698, and of theology at Pernau in 1701. His sympathies with the doctrines of the Pietists involved him in violent controversies, so that he had to flee to Stockholm at the time of the taking of Livonia by the Russians. He then retired to an estate which he possessed in Scania. In 1723 he came back to Stockholm, where he found again the same opposition. He died in 1729, leaving, De Spiritu Animali (Upsal, 1689): — De G.
