a Lutheran theologian of Germany, was born at Dresden, April 5, 1800, and died, doctor and professor of theology, at Leipsic, in 1849, leaving, De Regno Christi (Leipsic, 1826): — De Regno Divino (ibid. 1829): — Otium Theologicum (ibid. 1831): — Wissenschaftliche Reise, etc. (ibid. 1835-38, 2 volumes): — Die Vertheidigung des Christenthums (ibid. 1842): — System der christlichen Dogmatik (ibid. 1847): — Der Fortschritt des Menschengeschlechts (Giessen, 1848).
