a Methodist Protestant minister, was born in Pennsylvania, April 20, 1768. He was converted in youth, and early began evangelistic labors among his neighbors, especially the poor. His early ministerial service was in the Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1829 he seceded and took an active part in the organization of the Methodist Protestant Church, and in 1830 entered its itinerancy. The circuits which he served were Port William, Highland, Washington, Rehoboth (now Lynchburg), Xenia, and Springfield, all in Ohio. He died January 13, 1860. Mr. Dobbins was endued with a vigorous mind and constitution. His meek, earnest spirit commanded great respect. He once represented his county (Greene) for two years in the Ohio Legislature.
