an English clergyman, born at Shottesbrook, in Berkshire, June 17, 1709, was educated at Trinity College, Oxford, where he took his master's degree in 1732. He was rector of Shottesbrook and vicar of Buckleberry and of White Waltham; became a canon of the cathedral church at Salisbury, and was promoted to the archdeaconry of Berks by Bishop Thomas. He died October 21, 1785. The following are some of his publications: Two Sermons on the Eternity of Future Punishment: Visitation Sermon on the Desirableness of the Christian Faith (Oxford, 1744):-Two Sermons on Rational Faith (ibid. 1745): Dissertation on Jephthah's Vow (London, 1745): Sermon on St. Paul's Wish (Oxford, 1752), and many other single sermons.
