an English Baptist minister, was born at Newtown, Montgomeryshire, Wales, February 22, 1816. He was converted and baptized at the age of seventeen, and soon afterwards began to preach. In 1840 he entered Bradford College; and in 1844 was sent out to Ceylon by the Baptist Missionary Society; in 1847 his health failed, but he continued to labor as he had strength till his death, at Colombo, in April 1849.
