a Scotch clergyman, was the first Protestant minister at Dumfries in 1567; removed to Caerlaverock in 1574, with three other places in charge; became a schoolmaster at Dumfries; renounced the Protestant faith; corrupted the youth sent to his care; was deposed by the assembly of 1579; and died April 21, 1587.
