After repairing to Dresden, in order to thank the. elector of Saxony for having permitted the printer to take charge of this operation, Dalmatin went to perform pastoral duties at St. Khazaim, in 1585. Being exiled in 1598 by the Catholics, who called him abusively Cavale (Kobila, "the preacher"), he found an asylum at the house of the baron of Ansperg, who lodged him in a vault placed under the stables of the chateau, and afterwards called the Trou.
