a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church South, was born in Grayson County, Virginia, May 1, 1813. He embraced religion in his youth; was licensed to preach in his twenty-first year; and in 1835 united with the Holston Conference. After travelling several years he located, but subsequently was made presiding elder, in which office he continued nearly to the close of his life, June 15, 1848.
