an English clergyman, was born at Walton-upon-Thames, in Surrey, and received his education at Eton School and St. John's College, Cambridge. He probably was ordained about 1713. Soon after leaving the university he was instituted to the vicarage of Hampton, in Middlesex, and afterwards, in February 1731, to the united parishes of St. Mary Somerset and St. Mary Mounthaw, in London. He was also chancellor, prebendary, canon residentiary and portionist of the church of Hereford. In 1732 he was made archdeacon of Salop and chaplain to the king and in February 1734, obtained the vicarage of Sellack, in Herefordshire. He died February 13, 1752. The following are some of his works: Two Original Cantos, in Imitation of Spenser's Fairy Queen, as a Satire on the Earl of Oxford's Administration: — The Vision: — The Fair Circassian (1722, 4to).
