Cort, Corenelius
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
(in Italy, Cornelio Flamingo), anl eminent Dutch engraver, was born at Hoorn in 1533 or 1536, and was probably instructed by Jerome Cock. He afterwards established a famous school at Rome, where he died in 1578. The following are some of his numerous prints from different masters: Adam and Eve, with the Serpent; The Resurrection; The Descent of the Holy Ghost; Christ Walking on the Water; Christ Crowned with Thorns; St. John the Baptist; The Adoration of the Magi; The Entombing of Christ; The Creation of Adam and Eve; Moses and Aaron Before Pharaoh; The Nativity; The Holy Family; The Resurrection of Lazarus; The Death of the Virgin; Christ on the Mount of Olives.
