a French painter, was born at Sotteville, near Rouen in 1646, studied under Lesueur, and subsequently visited Rome for improvement. He was elected professor of the Royal Academy of Paris in 1705. Among his best productions, at Versailles, are Moses Saved by Pharaoh's Daughter and Moses Defending the Daughters of Jethro. He died at Paris in 1717.
