an English Baptist minister, was born in the parish of Hawling, Gloucestershire, August 31, 1779. Soon after joining the Church of which the Rev. Benjamin Beddome was the pastor, he entered the college at Bristol, where he studied for a time, and then became a. student in Marischal College, Aberdeen, where he graduated A.M. In Scotland, he devoted himself with great zeal to the spiritual welfare of the young. He was ordained at Bourton, November 17, 1801, where he remained during his entire ministerial life, nearly thirty-nine years, "highly esteemed by his brethren, and very useful in the public denominational institutions of the county."
