a French theologian, son of Jean, was born at Satigy, Dec. 12, 1785. He studied at Geneva, was in 1808 ordained to the ministry, and for some time assisted, and finally succeeded, his father in the ministry. In 1816 he was appointed professor of Hebrew and Biblical literature at Geneva, and occupied that chair till 1854. He died in 1862, leaving Grammsaire Hibraique, de W. Gesenius (the first Hebrew grammar in French, 1820): Analyse Raisonnee de Ouvrage Intitule: Einleitung in die Schriften des Neuen Testaments, de J. L.
