an eminent Spanish sculptor, was born at Nova in Galicia, in 1711. He went to Lisbon, then to Seville, and afterwards to Rome, where he produced several fine works, which gained him a pension from Philip V, king of Spain. He took the prize in sculpture at the Academy of St. Luke, and was afterwards admitted a member of that institution, as well as of the Florentine Academy. On his return to his native country he executed, at Madrid, several admirable works; and in 1752 was appointed director of the Royal Academy of San Ferdinando. He died in 1755. See Spooner, Biog.
