an English Catholic writer, ascetic, and priest, was born in 1599. His real, name was Miles Pinckney. After having been procurator of the college at Douay, where he had been studying, he went to Paris, and established there the monastery of the English Augustinians. He died Oct. 31, 1674, leaving, Sweet Thoughts of Jesus and of Mary (1656): Pietas Psarisiessis (Paris, 1666): — The Love of God, from St. Francis of Sales (ibid. 1630): — The Pledge of Eternity, from Camus, Bishop of Belley (ibid. 1632) Soliloquies, from Thomas a Kempis (ibid. 1653); and some other works of the same kind.
