Carpov, Paul Theodor
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
a German Orientalist and Lutheran theologian, was born in 1714 at Bolechow, in Polish Prussia. He studied at Rostock, where he took his degrees, and became professor of Hebrew and catechetical theology in 1738. In 1760 he assumed the same position at the newly founded university of Biitzow, here he remained until his death, May 27, 1765.
