a Congregational minister, was born in Reading, Mass., Nov. 2,1748, and graduated from Harvard College in 1770. Having pursued his theological studies under the direction of Rev. Thomas Haven, of Reading, he was ordained pastor of the church in Merrimac, N. H., Oct. 14,1772. His ministry extended over a period of nearly fifty years, and closed with his death, Dec. 26,1821. He published a number of Discourses on various topics, especially the Election Sermon for 1801, a Thanksgiving Sermon, 1811, and a Sermon on the Two Hundredth Anniversary of the Landing of the Pilgrims, Dec. 20, 1820.
