Burkholder, Jacob
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
a clergyman of the German Reformed Church, was born in Bedford County,. Pa., Aug. 29, 1823. In his youth he learned the carpenter's trade, at which he worked until he entered the ministry. In 1847 he joined the Reformed Church, and two years later began his studies for the ministry. In 1856 he removed to Illinois, where he continued to study, and in 1862 was licensed to preach. His health failing, he removed to Huntington, Ind., but in 1869 accepted a-call to Union Charge, De Kalb Co., Ind., amid was ordained. After one year: he became pastor of 'West Jefferson Charge, Williams Co., O., where he remained one year, and also took charge of some congregations in Miami and Kosciusko counties, Ind., and in their midst ended his labors, Aug. 17, 1875.
