a German prelate, was born at Strasburg in the 15th century. He became clerk of the pontifical ceremonies in 1483, afterwards bishop of Citta di Castello, and died May 6,1505. He is the author of Diarium, or journal of pope Alexander VI, which is curious, but has never yet been published entire; excerpts from it were published by Leibnitz under the title, Specimen Historice Arcance S. Anecdota de Vita Alexandri VI; it was published in a more complete form by Eckhard, in his Corpus Historicum. Burchard also wrote Ordo pro Informatione Sacerdotum (Rome, 1509), and aided in the correction of the Liber Pontificalis (ibid. 1497, fol.). -See Biog.
