When quite young he entered Dickinson Seminary (Williamsport), and by farming and teaching, to obtain money, struggled hard for an education. In 1859 he joined the East Baltimore Conference. He served faithfully fourteen charges within its boundaries. He died at Montgomery, Pennsylvania, December 8, 1880. He was a scriptural, practical, evangelical preacher, and a man of cheerful humor, pure life, and chaste conversation. See Minutes of Annual Conferences, 1881, page 77.
