Brown, David (4)
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
a Cherokee Indian who took special interest in the intellectual and spiritual improvement of his tribe, was born about the beginning of the present century. He received his education at a school established at Brainerd by Rev. Cyrus Kingsbury, of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. At this school he became a decided Christian, and set out for Cornwall, Connecticut, to attend the Foreign Mission School, to fit himself for a preacher. He spent one year in the Andover Theological Seminary, to perfect himself in the work of preparation. In due time he returned to his own people, and devoted himself with great zeal to missionary work for several years. His death occurred in the spring of 1829. See Anderson's Memoir; Allen, Amer.
