a Lutheran minister, was a native of Peritsch, in Saxony. He entered the University at Leipsic in 1776, where he graduated; was ordained by the evangelical seniors of the Lutheran Church, in the duchy of Augsburg, July 19, 1783. Mr. Bergman arrived in this country in 1785, anti went immediately to a congregation, then without a pastor, in Georgia, where he labored in- connection with three other charges in the neighborhood, which he served until he died, Feb. 25, 1824.
