He is the author of a popular Church history histoire de l'Eglise (Paris, 1778-90, 24 vols) comprising the period from the founding of the Church to the year 1721. This work has often been reprinted, with corrections and a continuation, by Guillon (Besancon and Paris, 1820-21, 12 vols.); by Pelier de Lacroie (Ghent, 1829-33, 18 vols.); by count Rubino (Lyons and Paris, 1842, 16 vols.). The fifth edition, coming down to the year 1844, was published by Henrion (Paris, 1844, 13 vols.). It was also translated into Italian and German. See Funk, in Wetzer u.
