a Jewish philosopher, was born at Berlin, Oct. 18, 1762. He studied philosophy and mathematics, and lectured on philosophy at the University of Vienna from. 1793 to 1798. He then went to Berlin, devoting his time to literary pursuits, and died there March 24, 1832. He wrote, On the Object of Critical Philosophy (Vienna, 1796): — Philotheos, or, the Origin of our Perceptioni (Berlin, 1802): — On the Religion of the Hebrews before Moses (ibid. 1812, 1872): — A History of the Jewish Calendar (1817): — On the Jewish Belief in a Future Messiah (1823): — besides a number of works relating to philosophy.
