an English Wesleyan minister, was born at Chesterton, near Newcastle- under-Lyme, June 3, 1787. He was converted in 1806, admitted into the ministry in 1810, and died in his last charge, Cheadle, Staffordshire, Feb. 22, 1856. He was cheerful, buoyant, generous, simple, beloved, an able preacher and faithful pastor. He conducted the singing in Conference for twenty years. See Life, by his son, Rev. John H.
