a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born in Virginia, July 19, 1797. He received a careful religious training; experienced conversion in his nineteenth year; soon began exhorting, and in 1817 joined the Virginia Conference. Four years later he located on account of ill-health removed to Ohio, and in 1830 entered the Ohio Conference, and in it labored diligently till his death, Feb. 22, 1839. Mr. Barrett was open-hearted and frank as a man, confident mand unwavering as a friend, affectionate as a parent, and devoted and zealous as a minister.
