a Unitarian minister, was born in Marlborough, Mass., March 24, 1731. He graduated at Harvard College in 1752, and commenced preaching shortly after. He received and accepted a call from the Second Church in Scituate in June, 1754. In 1780 he delivered the Dudleian Lecture at Harvard College. When the controversy which resulted in the division of the Congregational Church of Massachusetts began, it was well understood that his sympathies were on the liberal side. He died April 26, 1811.
