Babeur (or Baburen), Dirk

a Dutch painter, was born in 1570. His master was Peter Neefs, and he excelled as a representer of the interior of churches. In the Church of San Pietro in Montorio at Rome may be seen a Descent of Christ into the Tomb executed by him. -He died in 1624. See Spooner, Biog. Hist. of the Fine Arts, s.v.: Hoefer, Nouv. Biog.
