a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born in Philadelphia, Pa., Feb. 22, 1836. He experienced religion in his eleventh year, received license to preach in his nineteenth year, and in 1856 entered the Philadelphia Conference, in which he served with zeal and fidelity until his decease, Nov. 18, 1869. From childhood Mr. Ayars was characterized by an earnest, consistent, and progressive piety. He was a diligent and well- informed student, preacher, and pastor.
