The cosmogony of the Scandinavians teaches that the visible firmament of the sky is nothing but the skull of the giant Ymir, which the sons of Bor- Odin Villi, and Ve placed there after they had slain the giant. They lifted this heaven with four corners above the earth, and on each corner placed one dwarf; Austri, Sudri, Westri, Nordri (East, South, West, North).
