an Italian theologian and preacher, was born at Cremona in 1574. He was of a Milanese, family, and his father was invested with the dignity 'of podesta at Cremona. He entered the Order of Theatines in 1590. Eight years afterwards he was professor of philosophy and theology at .Naples and Rome. His success in preaching. was not less; and his renown in this capacity extended throughout Italy. He became confessor to the princess Isabella of. Savoy;. and in 1620 pope Paul V made him bishop of Tortona, which position he held for twenty years. But he did not relinquish his theological studies. His devotion to literature did not interfere with his episcopal functions. He died June 13, 1644. He wrote, In Libros Aristotelis de Generatione et de Corruptione (Milan, 1617) :-De Aquea Transformatione in Sacrificio Missce (Tortona, 1622; Antwerp, 1628) :- Velitationes in Apocalypsim: (Milan, 1677, with the Life of the author by P. Sondrati):Artedi Predicar Bene (Venice, 1611) :-Impresse Sacre con Triplicati Discorsi Illustrate ed Arricchite (Verona, 1613; Frankfort, 1702). This is the most remarkable work of this author.
