an Italian cardinal, was a native of Florence.: After having been associated with cardinal Fanese (elected pope afterwards under the name of Paul' III), he became secretary of cardinal Alexander Farnese, nephew of the pontiff. Paul III charged him with the reconciliation of Charles V with Francis I. He accompanied cardinal Alexander into Spain, then to Germany and France, and on his return was made cardinal himself. He died in 1547 at the age of forty-five years. He wrote a book, entitled De Negotiatione sua pro Paice Ineunda inter Carolum V et Franciscum:-also some poetical sketches. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog.
