a Greek scholar, born in the Peloponnesus about the middle of the 16th century, died Feb. 1, 1638. He was subsequently appointed teacher of Greek in Baliol College, Oxford, which position he retained until his death. He published an account of his flight from Greece (Oxford, 1619, in Greek and in English); a work on the Greek religion (Enchiridion de Institutis Greacis, Cambridge, 1619, in Greek and Latin); Encomium on the Kingdom of Great Britain (Cambridge, 1619); De Apos tasia Ecclesiae et de Homine peccati, scilicet Antichristo (London, 1624, 4to).
