a celebrated divine and politician of Venice, was born in that city in 1430. He entered the religious order of Servites at the age of ten years, and made profession for ten years. Afterwards he taught philosophy, became a popular preacher, and was employed by the Republic of Venice in many affairs of state, being sent as ambassador to Turkey.
