a Lutheran theologian, was born at Lehna, in Silesia, Dec. 15,1635. He studied at Leipsic, where he also lectured in the philosophical and theological faculty. In 1678 he was promoted as doctor of theology. He died at Leipsic, Sept. 19, 1697. His writings are very numerous. His doctrinal position was that of the orthodox Lutheran Church, and. from that point he wrote alike against Pietism and Roman Catholicism.
