a Presbyterian minister, was born in Windham, Vt., Sept. 21, 1790. He graduated from Middlebury College in 1814, and afterwards entered the Andover Theological Seminary, from which he graduated in 1817. He was ordained and settled over the First Church, Utica, N.Y., Feb. 3, 1818, where he stood as a strong, earnest, and successful pastor until 1835. In that year he was installed pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland, O. In 1858 he resigned his charge, but continued to reside in Cleveland until his death, Jan. 1, 1879.
