(from ἄκτιστος, not created), a sect of the Julianists, who took this name from their dogma, that after the incarnation Christ ought not to be spoken of as a created being, even in respect to his human nature; thus contradicting the words of the Nicene Creed, "And was made man." This was, in reality, a form of the older heresy of the Docete (q.v.); for since a being wholly uncreated must be wholly God, the reality of our Lord's human nature was a doctrine as incompatible with the belief of one sect as it was with that of the other.
