קֵץ with suff. קִצִּי (from the root קָצַץ), m. end, extremity, whether of space, Isaiah 37:24; Jeremiah 50:26 or of time; whence מִקֵּץ, at the end, after (see מִן No. 3, ), e.g. מִקֵּץ אַרְבָּעִים יוֹם after forty days, Genesis 8:6, 16:3 41:1 also in the later writers לְקֵץ 2 Chronicles 18:2; Daniel 11:6, 13 Daniel 11:13 or of the end of actions, Job 16:3 or of a condition of things, Isaiah 9:6. אֵין קֵץ adv. without end, Ecclesiastes 12:12. Specially it is
(a) the end, i.e. destruction of a people, Genesis 6:13; Ezekiel 7:2; Amos 8:2 עֲווֹן קֵץ a wickedness bringing destruction, Ezekiel 21:30, 34 Eze 21:34 35:5.

(c) עֵת קֵץ Daniel 8:17 מוֹעֵד קֵץ, verse 19, the time of the end, also קֵץ הַיָּמִים Daniel 12:13, the end of the days, are the calamitous times immediately preceding the advent of the Messiah; see Bertholdtii Christologia Judæorum (Erlangæ, 1811), p. 38.
Pl. once in const. st. Job 18:2, where קִנְצֵי for קִצֵּי (Dag. forte being resolved in the Chaldee manner, see Lehrg. page 134). The words are עַד־אָנָה תְּשִׂימוּן קִנְצֵי לְמִלִּין “when will ye make an end of words?” [see קִנְצֵי.] Elsewhere for pl. absol. is used the form קְצָווֹת (see קִצְוָה ), for the constr. and with suff. the forms קַצְוֵי, קְצֵיהֶם, קְצוֹתָיו (from קָצֶה, קָצָה, קֶצֶו). Denom. is קִיצוֹן, for קִצּוֹן.
