Qal Perfect 3 masculine singular רַךְ 2 Kings 22:19; 2 Chronicles 34:27; 3 plural רַכּוּ Psalm 55:22; Imperfect יֵרַךְ (Ges§ 67p) Isaiah 7:4 +; —

1 be tender, weak, of heart :

a. be timid, fearful, "" יַרֵא, Isaiah 7:4; Jeremiah 51:46; Deuteronomy 20:3.

b. be softened, penitent, "" כָּנַע Niph`al, 2 Kings 22:19 2 Chronicles 34:27.

2 be soft, of treacherous words Psalm 55:22 (with מִן compare; "" II. חָלַק).

רָכַךְ to be tender, soft (Arab. ركََّ, kindred to the root רָקַק No. I); figuratively

(a) to be delicate, Deuteronomy 28:56.

(b) to be weakened, contrite in mind, 2 Kings 22:19 see Niph.; used of soft words, Psalms 55:22.

Niphal, fut. יֵרַךְ to be weakened (broken), of the mind or heart (לֵב) to become timid, Deuteronomy 20:3; Isaiah 7:4; Jeremiah 51:46. See רַךְ No. 5.

Pual, to be softened (a wound with ointment), Isaiah 1:6.

Hiphil, with לְב to break any one’s heart, Job 23:16.
